Casting Anxieties

1 Peter 5:6-11 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Delete!

I deleted approximately 45% of the comments Study.Quiet received during the past month.

Shocked? Don’t be. Many comments deserve to be smothered before people have a chance to read them.

Don’t worry -- if you are reading this, they weren’t your comments. Comments have never been my goal, but it is a blessing to receive input from real people who have actually benefited from Study.Quiet. I do not appreciate comments from Mr. Anonymous – the unknown personage who flatters without sincerity and leaves me the “present” of a long list of links that would be an embarrassment on any Christian site.

Anonymous does not read or appreciate my blog posts. He simply pastes and posts the same generic list of worthless links over and over again on hundreds of blogs with the hope that his “littering” will generate more hits on his own websites. I don’t like it.

Many of you have probably undergone similar problems. Some of you have enabled comment moderation or word verification. That doesn’t sound like a bad idea right now. Who wants to delete comments everyday? Let us hope that Mr. Anonymous is lazy and won’t take the time to punch in the random letters.

Does any of this look familiar (minus the links)?

“You have an outstanding good and well structured site. I enjoyed browsing through it”

“Wonderful and informative web site. I used information from that site its great.”

“Very cool design! Useful information. Go on!”

“What a great site”

“That's a great story. Waiting for more.”

“Looking for information and found it at this great site..”

I hope word verification will put a halt to the flattering – but meaningless – comments. Have any of you had problems with “fake comments?”

“For Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it”. 1 Peter 3:10-11

A Visit with Kait and Kate

I have felt exhausted all week, but I think that I am finally recuperating from the exciting trip I took last Sunday. I met Katie Marie from Pursuing the Mystery and Kaitlin from Mission Amare! It was an amazing time of tea, games, talking, and even more talking. You would never believe all the ground we covered in our conversations. I left exhilarated, encouraged, and – wiped out. I think I slept most of the way home the next day! It was all worth it, and I would turn right around and do it again. We had so much fun!

The picture at the top of this post is one of my favorites from the trip. I borrowed it from Kaitlin's post at Mission Amare, and it was taken by Katie's sister Ellen.Kaitlin took a picture of Katie......While Katie was taking a picture of Kaitlin! This is Katie and Elizabeth (me) at our lovely table of tea, biscuits, mints, and jelly beans. Can you tell that we took lots of pictures?

Needless Worrisome Worries

Thirty minutes of irritation or worry use as much energy as eight hours of actual work.”

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?"

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
