Thankfulness Day 30

I thank God for life. I am celebrating another year on this earth and anticipating many more, but no matter how much time I have, I am intent on living it all for the Lord. He gives my life purpose. He is my all in all!

Thankfulness Day 29

I thank God for modern appliances. I spent a lot of quality time today with the apartment washers and dryers, our refrigerator and oven, and my sewing machine. I've got it pretty good. Even my "work" is easy compared to what my ancestors went through to accomplish the same tasks.

Thankfulness Day 28

I thank God for my friends. My life is enriched by those who show me in countless ways that they care.

Miles may separate us, or time may be scarce, but our friendship is a gift. I value every moment spent together -- even if that "together" is through a phone or computer. I am blessed, and I hope that I am a blessing to you too. Please know that you are loved, and I pray continually for you.

Thankfulness Day 27

I thank God for my brother, David Andrew Moore. He is one of my forever best friends; he is stuck with me!

When I think back on the stories I told you, the bows and arrows we made with sticks, the long bike rides, recorder duets, paper route "folding parties," etc., I can't help but smile. We have had a lot of fun together over the years, and I anticipate a lot more in the years to come.

Happy Birthday! I love you, David!

Thankfulness Day 26

I thank God for Zachary's job. He is a hard worker and a good provider, but I don't take employment for granted. Covington Aircraft has been a blessing.

Thankfulness Day 25

I thank God for my husband, Zachary.  I am head over heels in love with him!  I truly believe we were made for each other.  Who better to go through life with but your best friend and sweetheart? His sense of humor and quick wit keep me laughing, and I love a good laugh.  He has proven himself an excellent husband and father, and for that I thank both Zachary and our Heavenly Father who provides wisdom to those who ask for it.

I love you, Sweetheart! Happy birthday!

Thankfulness Day 24

I thank God for my grandmother, Jan Koskey. Her love has been a constant in my life. Grandma's boldness in sharing the truths in God's Word, her fervent and faithful prayer, and her generous spirit of friendship and hospitality inspire me.

I love you, Grandma!

Thankfulness Day 23

I thank God for our home. Zachary and I are blessed to have a safe, warm, and comfortable place. Especially after a long trip, I am reminded of how nice it is to be together with our daughter in our own little apartment.

Thanksgiving isn't about the food. It isn't even about the family time - although I love both of these things. Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks for our many blessings. It is a time to pause, set aside the everyday routine, and celebrate the abundant grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. So today, I thank God for loving me so much that he provided a way of salvation and forgave me of all my sins. I am His child and will spent eternity with Him. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Thankfulness Day 21

I thank God for my dad, Robert W Moore. He has been a faithful father, a loving guidance, and a source of wisdom in my life. He has been so supportive of Zachary and me as we create our own family. He is a wonderful grandfather -- fully in love with little Anna! Our trip to Iowa was made possible by him, and I will be forever grateful!

Thankfulness Day 20

I thank God for friendly people who are willing to help a group of complete strangers. I believe the Lord led us to just the right person today when we needed guidance. He used to take care of the little backwoods cemetery we were looking forward to finding, and he knows the people who own it. We followed him out to the property, and he waited at the bottom of the overgrown hill until he knew we had found it.

Thankfulness Day 19

I thank God for family. We were able to visit with three family groups in one day! My Aunt Mary saw us off in the morning. We had lunch with my mom's cousins, Debi Martin-Beem, Jess and Robin Branam Beem, and a bunch of my second cousins including Julia Beem, Alicia Beem, and Carlina Beem. After exploring Mapleton, we drove out to have dinner with my second cousin on the Moore side, Jen Stahl. A full day bursting with fun!

Oh, and I met a third cousin twice removed in the afternoon! I hope I got that right.

Thankfulness Day 18

I thank God for photographs - both old and new. Aunt Mary was able to identify aunts and uncles in family photos taken almost a hundred years ago, and we took plenty of new shots with her during our visit. Adding icing to the Muckey "cake" was being able to meet my grand aunt Jane through Skype. The two sisters were able to use our computer to see each other for the first time in 12 years! I am so glad I was able to be a part of that!

Thankfulness Day 17

I thank God for the opportunity to go on a trip with my parents, husband, and baby to the beautiful state of Iowa. Meeting one of my Grandma Marjorie's siblings is a dream come true. Aunt Mary blessed me in a way few could understand. Her sweet spirit is a true gift, and her story telling restored a family legacy long lost to my branch of the family. I am at peace with a joy that can come only from the generous love of my Heavenly Father.

Thankfulness Day 16

I thank God for my wonderful in-laws, Bill and Nina Pruett! I love them so much and could not begin to list the ways they have been a blessing. Our long talks on the phone and living room family time are so precious to me. They are awesome parents, and I have loved watching them fall in love as grandparents now too. I am so glad they are a part of my life! I get to see them tonight!!!

Thankfulness Day 15

It is amazing how hard it is to get things done when I am either feeding the baby, being still so the baby can sleep, or keeping the now mobile baby entertained and out of places she shouldn't be. Instead of thinking about what isn't getting done, I am just THANKFUL anything gets done around here. I have never prepared for a big trip before with a baby, but one way or another, we will make it.

Thankfulness Day 14

I thank God for my phone! I am able to talk to my sweetheart over lunch break almost every day -- which is great since he does not have time to come home. I talk to my family and friends and stay connected in their lives. Today, I was able to use it to work out details for our upcoming trip. We will see extended family members from three of the four quarters of my family tree! So excited!

Thankfulness Day 13

I thank God for my Family Tree Maker software and They make genealogy more accessible and organized. I am printing off charts for my upcoming Iowa trip (THIS WEEKEND!), and it would be much more difficult without my Family Tree Maker!

Thankfulness Day 12

I thank God for my mom, Christina Moore. Before I had Anna, I thought I knew what it meant to appreciate my mother. I thought I understood the love she gave me while feeding and changing me as a baby.

I didn't have a clue.

Now that Anna is here and I am on the other side of things, I understand a little bit better. My thanksgiving will only increase as my own daughter grows older.

Thanks, Mom. I love you!

Thankfulness Day 11

I thank God for my Grandpa, Robert Wayne Moore, Sr. I honor his willingness to defend our country, and I thank the Lord that he was kept safe, married my grandmother, and now has eight living descendants. I love you, Grandpa!

Thankfulness Day 10

I thank God for my sister Susanna Moore. One of my best friends and lifelong pals, she brings excitement and joy. I am so happy I will see her dance today! My little family is headed to an Irish Dance Feis in Fort Smith!

Thankfulness Day 9

I thank God for strawberries. Strawberries and cream are perfect when one wants to forget a disastrous dinner.

Elsie - Adventures of an Arizona Schoolteacher 1913-1916

Elsie Reed Hayes
Barbara Anne Waite and I must have some things in common because this book about her grandmother is exactly the kind of book I can see myself putting together.  Elsie - Adventures of an Arizona Schoolteacher 1913-1916 is a compilation of journals, letters, and newspaper articles from a short period of time in the life of a young woman of about my own age.  We even read some of the same books (such as Laddie: A True Blue Story by Gene Stratton-Porter).  This kind of book may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoyed it immensely.  It made me wish again that I could read the journals written by my own ancestors. But, since I don't have them, Elsie's will do for now!

Every journal is a unique expression of its author's personality and priorities.  By reading the daily, short entries of Elsie Reed Hayes -- usually no more than a few sentences -- we can see her love of family, children, education, and books.  Her loyalties are strong and her love deep.  No stranger to tragedy, we feel some of her pain as she loses a dear friend to a slow, lingering illness, deals with a broken off romance, and enjoys the growth of true and lasting love. Elsie is often vague, so I am thankful for the research and notes of the compiler. This is a real journal -- not a novel with detailed character descriptions or a carefully woven plot.

This is a treasure to Elsie's descendants and a worthy read for the rest of us.

Thankfulness Day 8

I thank God for my aunt, Ramona Moore Ash. She is a gift to both her family and community. As my aunt and friend, she has encouraged and blessed me so many times. I am thankful I was able to live close to her, my uncle, and cousin for several years. She is making an impact on my hometown of Ponca City and the rest of Kay County as the director of Living Hope Pregnancy-Center. In this role, she is active in sharing the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Ramona!

Thankfulness Day 7

I thank God for rest. I am tired or exhausted much of the time these days, so it makes an extra long nap like the one I got today special. I needed it, and the Lord gave it! Thank you, Jesus!

Thankfulness Day 6

I thank God for the privilege of voting. Zachary and I went in over his lunch and got it done. Now we will just keep praying. Our country is in God's hands.

Thankfulness Day 5

I thank God for "The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding." I thank Him that He guards my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I needed Philippians 4:7 tonight. My God isn't going anywhere just because I had a tough afternoon or didn't "feel" at peace. So thankful!

Thankfulness Day 4

The cake from our church baby shower before Anna was born
I thank God for my church family. Zachary and I have been here in Okmulgee for almost a year and a half now, and I cannot imagine being welcomed more warmly. FBC Okmulgee is a great place to worship God and be encouraged in His Word!

Thankfulness Day 3

I thank God for the beautiful autumn weather I was able to enjoy with my little family today. We took pictures outside, and Anna loved playing with the grass. This truly is my favorite season, and November my favorite month!

Thankfulness Day 2

I thank God for our car, the funds to keep it fueled, the ability to drive, and a husband who is a GREAT driver. All these things make our many trips to visit family and friends possible and give us a mobility that is relatively new to the history of mankind.

Thankfulness Day 1

I thank God for my daughter Anna Christine. She is seven months old today, and because of her, my life will never be the same again. From the time I was a small child I knew I wanted to be a mother someday, but nothing could have prepared me for the abundance of love and joy I feel at just the thought of Anna. Her smiles brighten my day, her neediness forces me to reevaluate my priorities and become less selfish, and her sweet spirit encourages me and gives my life purpose. She is such a blessing to Zachary and me!
